RE_TRATION
June 2011 00:24:00 Bushwick Open Studios Grace Exhibition Space Brooklyn, New York + coal + flour+ rope + water + unused shoes from my closet |
STATEMENT
I was raised in a state where I relied on a car for transit and not my own two feet; yet I owned several pair of shoes. I would buy new shoes without needing them. I now live in a state where the role of the shoe has completely reversed. My everyday relies on the reliability of objects. I see my desire for things and forget about people around the world (commonly in areas deemed the Third World) who rely on basic needs such as nutrition and shelter for survival. This performance investigates the duality of objects and self. |
