BODY AS VEHICLE: SUCRALOSE

January 2011
4:00:00
Hot Wood II
OK Hotel Gallery
Seattle, WA

+ 87 plastic cups

+ 5, 32oz Gatorade bottles
+ soil

+ latex
+ plastic tubes
STATEMENT
Sucralose is the first experiment in an evolving performance series entitled Body As Vehicle. Within this piece my body becomes the metaphorical and physical filter to the surrounding mass of sugary, genetically engineered liquids. Through a nearly impossible physical effort, I siphon liquid from the single serving sized plastic cup, through a 10’ long tube and disperse the remains to an organic plant.

ACTIONS
Lay atop a bed of soil, surrounded by cups of Gatorade and soda. Use plastic tubes to siphon liquid out of cup and into mouth. Expel liquid from mouth through tube connected to plant. REPEAT.
